An FB invite to 2015’s Parade of Arambol says the event is not for “selling ideas, sarongs, sandwiches or Gods.”
The Annual Goa Carnival, a precipitate of carnival celebrations worldwide, is slated to be held with much music and frolic on 10 February. However, in a run up to the carnival, the “settlers” in Goa organised the parade of Arambol aka “Freak Parade.”
This is a “foreigners” only event where travellers and settlers from all across the world don the most colourful outfits and, grooving to percussion and songs from their native countries, sashay across the entire length of North Goa’s Arambol beach.
According to a Facebook invite to 2015’s Parade of Arambol, the event is not for “selling ideas, sarongs, sandwiches or Gods.”
This parade provides an unclouded view into Goa’s “hippy” scene and is in its essence an unfettered celebration of life devoid of metropolitan influence.
The “Freak Parade” stands true to it’s name.
