Common people joined Congress workers and party president Rahul Gandhi in huge numbers at midnight on Thursday to march against the government’s inaction in the Kathua and Unnao rape cases.

Amid slogans and banners, the battle cry resounded: SAVE OUR WOMEN!

Hundreds gathered on Thursday at midnight to protest against Kathua-Unnao rape cases.

Protesters were seen shouting slogans, carrying candles and some even held placards against the BJP governments at the Centre and in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir while demanding urgent action against the perpetrators of the two heinous gangrapes.

“Rapists, Leave India!” protesters at the midnight rally demanded.
“Make our women safe,” Rahul Gandhi led the midnight march to protest against government’s inaction in Unnao and Kathua rapes.

Gandhi was joined by his sister Priyanka, her husband Robert Vadra and their children.

"We are here against crimes being committed against women, against rapes, violence and murder and the government must act on this. This is a national issue and not a political one," Gandhi said during the march in the heart of the national capital.

This is about our women. Thousands are present here including the common people and people from all parties. The situation is such today that one after another incident of murder, rape and violence is taking place in various parts of the country. We are standing here against that and we want the government to act.
