According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, more than 2.11 lakh people in 15 districts have been affected by severe flooding in the state since June 7.

The districts affected include Barpeta, Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar, Tinsukia, Darrang, Nalbari, Jorhat, Kamrup, Baksa, Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Sivasagar and Morigaon.

Barpeta remained the worst-hit district with over one lakh people reeling under extreme flooding.

The flood waters also submerged some areas of the Kaziranga National Park.

Deer, rhinos, buffalos, tigers and elephants have been moved to the nearby Karbi hills.
