A ban has been enforced on the movement of civilian vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar-Baramulla national highway for two days per week to facilitate the safe passage of security convoys. The ban that came into effect on Sunday, 7 April will be in force till 31 April.

This decision came in wake of the militant attack in February this year on the highway near Letpora of Pulwama district in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed.

People forced to walk as vehicles are not being allowed on the Jammu-Srinagar-Baramulla national highway for two days per week.

On the first day of closure of highway, people in Kashmir felt choked as people took to the social media to criticise the present government. Ambulances too were checked at several places and the highway looked deserted for the whole day.
