Steve McCurry, an iconic voice in contemporary photography, has compiled his work on India in a book, simply titledSteve McCurry: India.

The American editorial photographer has made more that 60 trips to India in the last three decades. The book explores the lives of everyday people in extraordinary settings through his camera lens.

According to the publisher Phaidon Books, this new portfolio of emotive and beautiful work features 150 previously unpublished photos, taken across the Indian subcontinent, along with images that have become known across the globe.

Reproduced in a large format with captions and an introductory essay, India features a range of color pictures illustrating the vibrant country, capturing the lives of everyday people in extraordinary settings: from the Ganesh festival on Chowpatty beach in Mumbai to the Kolkata railway station at dawn, from the flower markets of Kashmir to the streets of Old Delhi.
