UK Medics Deliver Baby After Pregnant Mom Dies in Crossbow Attack
Eight-month pregnant Sana Muhammad was shot through the stomach with a crossbow by her ex, in front of her children.
Paramedics in London successfully delivered a baby boy after his pregnant mother was shot dead with a crossbow at her home, British police said.
Sana Muhammad, 35, was eight months pregnant when she was shot through the stomach with a crossbow in front of her five children, aged one to 17 years old, her husband, Imtiaz Muhammad, told the Evening Standard newspaper.
Sana was rushed to a hospital in east London where she was later pronounced dead, but medics managed to save the baby boy by performing an emergency Caesarean section. The baby, who was in a stable condition, was named Ibrahim by his relatives, reported The Telegraph.
Police arrested Sana’s ex-husband Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo, 50, who appeared in a London court on Tuesday, 13 November, charged with murder.
The report in The Telegraph also states that Sana, who was born in Mauritius, understandably had split from her first husband around six years ago, after which she converted to Islam when she married Imtiaz.
Imtiaz said he found the killer hiding in their shed with a crossbow. He said: “I can't help thinking she took my arrow. Maybe it should have hit me.”
“She was a wonderful mother and wife. We were together seven years. I am heartbroken, we were inseparable,” Imtiaz told Evening Standard, recalling his wife.
