TIME magazine, known for it’s thought-provoking covers, has made yet another powerful statement on the current immigrant crisis that has engulfed the US, through its cover.

The magazine cover for the 2 July edition features US President Donald Trump looking down on a crying immigrant child, with the words ‘Welcome to America’ – highlighting the Trump administration’s ’zero-tolerance’ crackdown on illegally immigration, which included separating children from their families at the US borders.

The picture of the crying child was incidentally taken from John Moore’s evocative photograph, which is in reality a two-year-old Honduran girl crying as her mother was detained at Texas.

Speaking about the photograph, Moore, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, told TIME:

This one was tough for me. As soon as it was over, they were put into a van. I had to stop and take deep breaths. All I wanted to do was pick her up. But I couldn’t.

TIME notes that Moore’s photo was critical in pushing Trump to sign an executive order on Wednesday, reversing the family-child separation policy.
