Time magazine has asked The Trump Organisation to remove the framed photos of a Time cover featuring Trump from their golf clubs. Why? Because, they’re fake.
The photo is up on at least five of Trump’s golf courses spanning across US, Ireland and Scotland, reported The Telegraph.
A Washington Post article revealed that the cover was fake, after a reporter observed several minuscule errors in the detailing. The cover dated 1 March 2009 read: Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!
In actuality, there was no Time magazine dated 1 March. The subsequent issue was dated 2 March 2009 and feature Kate Winslet, lauding her for Oscars successes.
When the Washington Post contacted Time to confirm their observations, a spokesperson for the magazine Kerri Chyka said:
The Trump Organisation has reportedly not respond to any of the Washington Post’s queries regarding this matter. Sarah Huckbee Sander, the White House spokeswoman, too declined to comment on it.
The fake magazine cover is on display at Trump’s golf clubs in Doral, Florida; Virginia; Mar-a-Lago Club, Palm Beach, Florida; Doonbeg, Western Ireland and Turnberry Club in Scotland.
Trump has earlier made several references to having held the record for appearing on the most number of Time magazine covers. At the CIA headquarters in January, he had said:
However, according to the magazine’s tally, Trump has been on 14 covers totally, of which only one featured him before he entered politics.
