A California based artist has found a unique medium to express his art by using emojis. Yung Jake is using a countless number and types of emojis to create life-like portraits of his favorite celebrities.

He turned 20,000 emojis into amazing celebrity portraits, and spends between 30 minutes to a whole week turning emojis in facial details – morphing headphones into hairstyles and eggplants into expressions. He has made portraits of celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Leonardo DiCaprio, David Bowie and more.

The artist, whose real name is Jake Patterson, has been creating these unusual pieces for two years, and uses an image of the celebrity and then compiles emojis based on colour, and the subject matter to create detailed imitations of their face and hair. He uses emojis ranging from pigs, musical notes, thunderbolts, leaves, saxophones, monkeys, loafs of bread, cookies, cheese, CDs and countless others in his creations.
