Faraaz Hossain, the Bangladeshi student from Emory University who was killed in the bloody terror attack in Dhaka on Friday, was actually allowed to leave by the terrorists, but he chose to stay behind to be with his friends.
On Friday evening, Hossain, a 19-year-old Indian national Tarishi Jain, and Abinta Kabir, another student of Emory University, met at the Holey Artisan Restaurant in Dhaka. They were supposed to meet a fourth friend, Miraaj al-Haque, who arrived late and was miraculously saved.
Hossain was probably allowed to leave as he was a Bangladeshi Muslim and was perhaps able to recite the Quran when he was asked to by the attackers.
Hossain, Tarishi and Abinta were close friends. Tarishi and him used to play badminton together.
His brother also said he was a lover of football, and an ardent supporter of Manchester United.
