Sri Lankans Appeal for Peace on Twitter Amidst Communal Violence
Parts of the country were put under indefinite curfew on 14 May after violent backlash against Muslims.
Sri Lanka has been in a state of turmoil for over 3 weeks now, since the 21 April suicide terror attack that targeted churches and hotels. Amidst the rising communal tensions in the country, citizens of Sri Lanka appealed for peace to avoid a repeat of the 1983 riots that sank the country into a civil war that lasted for 26 years.
Parts of the country were put under indefinite curfew on 14 May after violent backlash against Muslims, in which 1 man was reported killed.
But people of Sri Lanka seem determined not to let communalism tear the country apart again.
