Pakistan is all set to open a school for the education and training exclusively for the transgender community in Lahore, Dawn reports. The school, named ‘The Gender Guardian’, has been built by an NGO named ‘Exploring Future Foundation’ and will offer the academic courses to students from primary classes to matriculation, leading up to college, as per the report.

Besides academic courses, the school will also offer crash courses in subjects such as fashion designing, beautician courses, graphic designing, computer and mobile repairing, to name a few.

Asif Shahzad, the school’s founder, told Dawn that once the Lahore branch has been opened, two more similar schools will be opened in Karachi and Islamabad.

According to the report, more than 40 students from the community have already registered to be the first batch of the school. The staff comprises 15 faculty members, of which three are members of the transgender community.

The report also mentions that the school will be inaugurated at a ceremony at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore's Alhamra Hall, which is expected to be attended by several entertainment personalities.
