Indian-American industrialist Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar will donate a whopping USD 1.1 million to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. He is the same man who led the campaign in the US to lift a visa ban on Narendra Modi before he became Prime Minister in 2014.

The Amritsar-born founder and head of the Republican Hindu Coalition, Kumar has made one of the biggest donations to the Trump Victory Fund and believes that the partnership with the foundation will show people that Trump is not racist.

Defending Trump, Kumar insisted that the former was widely misunderstood and at times, misquoted; especially over some of his more controversial proposals.

Speaking about Modi, Kumar said he was impressed by his ability to curb corruption and hence fought for the removal of the travel ban.
