A woman in Pakistan’s Lashariwala has poisoned and killed 15 members of a family by spiking their lassi with rat killing pills.

According to police, the woman, identified as 20-year-old Asia Bibi, was in a forced marriage to her cousin Amjad, and planned to kill him with the help of her lover Shahid, Geo News reported on Tuesday.

The police have arrested Asia, Shahid and his relative Zareena.

According to the Geo News report, Asia has been accused of poisoning a container of milk that her husband was supposed to consume. He, however, did not consume the milk and it was later used to make lassi, which was then consumed by his family members, resulting in 15 deaths. Reportedly, Asia had tried to escape her in-laws and husband and went back to her parents during her 45-day marriage, but she was promptly send back.

A special team of police has been formed to investigate the deaths. District Police Officer Awais Ahmad said a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act had been registered against Asia and her accomplices, Dawn reported.
