  • The debate is moderated by CNN’s Anderson Cooper and ABC News’ Martha Raddatz.
  • Donald Trump clashed with Hillary Clinton during the first presidential debate of the 2016 elections on 27 September.

The last questioned asked to the two candidates not only cracked everyone up but also brought about the first positive comment of the debate.

Do you have even positive thing that you respect about each other?

Hillary Clinton: I respect his children. He has raised great children and that has to say something about him.

Donald Trump: She is a fighter and doesn’t quit.

Syrian Crisis

The two candidates were asked about what they would do to control the humanitarian situation in Syria.

While Hillary Clinton states the treaties that she signed, Donal Trump opposed her and said that she was in favour of arming the rebels while “she doesn’t even know who the rebels are”.

Russia

Hillary Clinton hints towards Donald Trump’s alleged interest in Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s support for his vested interests. Clinton alleged that Russians are hacking into American citizens’ Twitter accounts to influence the election.

Donald Trump countered her by saying that the hackings are only talked about and maybe staged. He said that he does not have interest in business in Moscow and relations with Putin and US, he says, need to be better.

Islamaphobia

A Muslim woman asked Trump how he plans to tackle the hatred towards Muslim-Americans.

While Donald Trump says that the problem is that the terror need to be acknowledged as Islamic, Hillary Clinton said that the jihadist terror should not be blamed on the religion.

Both the candidates blamed each other for advocating and supporting the Iraq war.

Obamacare

Donald Trump alleges that the moderators and Hillary Clinton are trying to avoid the topic of the deleted emails of Hillary Clinton.

Trump attacked outgoing President Barack Obama’s Obamacare and the Affordable Healthcare Act by saying that he will repeal it if and when he is elected to the office.

Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz started the debate by raising the hot mic audio of Trump.

Trump denied saying the things he was heard saying in the video, calling it “locker room banter”.
