The Internet recoiled in horror last week after pictures of a rat-shaped piece of chicken from KFC was posted by a man in California, who claimed that he was served “deep fried rat” instead of chicken. However, after getting hold of that alleged rodent, KFC ran a DNA test only to find out that it nothing more than a piece of chicken that just happened to be oddly shaped like a rat.

Devorise Dixon, a resident of Watts, California had on June 12 posted the following photo on his Instagram page.

These pictures posted by Dixon turned into a PR nightmare for fast food chain. Many thousands of consumers began to question the credibility of KFC’s products on their Facebook page.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Dixon had initially refrained from responding to KFC’s request to inspect the food item which he claimed to be a rat. However, on Friday his lawyer gave the product to an independent lab.

The fast food chain also released a statement regarding the findings on Sunday as reported by Hindustan Times.

Recently in the US, a customer questioned the quality of a KFC product which received considerable publicity given the sensational nature of his claim. The product has now been tested by a third-party independent lab, which confirmed it is definitely a piece of chicken, as we knew all along. The right thing for this customer to do is to apologize and cease making false claims about the KFC brand.
