Britain decided to leave the European Union in the historic Brexit vote, as the results of the referendum revealed on Friday.

Since Twitter always has commentary on everything under the sun, a whole lot of Twitterati found the same joke to make on Britain’s exit.

Comedians, bussinesspeople, commonfolk alike could not help but highlight the déjà vu of the Brexit viz. the Indian independence from colonial rule.

This joke is currently spreading like the flu and your WhatsApp and Facebook timelines shall be inundated with it for the next 2-3 days, maybe even till next week on your family chats!

Not just the Indians, but people from other erstwhile British colonies were found beating the same drum.

Others were quick to point out how the other big election of the year could pan out after the surprising Brexit vote.

People resorted to finding comedic relief in the decision, mammoth impact of which will only start to be seen in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Canadians did the most Canadian thing they could, by offering refuge to Britons in the Great White North.
