Jared Kushner Voted as a Woman, According to His Registration
According to the records held by the New York State Board of Elections, Jared Corey Kushner is a woman.
Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor, Jared Kushner, has been registered to vote as a woman since 2009.
Kushner, who has been known for negotiating peace between Israel and Palestine, fixing the opioid crisis, updating technology across the entire federal government, and spearheading criminal justice reform, to name a few, has been registered as “female” in his voter registration for the past eight years.
As per the records of the New York State Board of Elections, obtained by WIRED who first published this story, Kushner is registered as a woman voter.
Why Kushner must have checked the “female” box is yet to be found out as he has not made any official statement yet. It could have been an honest mistake or there could have been some reason behind it but based on his recent history with paperwork, option one seems like a pretty safe bet.
As reported by CBS, Kushner updated a disclosure form necessary to obtain security clearance three separate times.
Kushner’s inability to fill out simple forms multiple times as well as of his own testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee has been subject of much debate. However, regardless of the reason, a person on his position making such mistakes is kind of troubling as this is the person who’s supposed to overhaul the entire United States government.
Brad Bainum, a spokesperson from the American Bridge, a liberal opposition research hub and the group that first identified Kushner’s voter slip-up, has given a statement saying, "Kushner can't even fill out the most basic paperwork without screwing it up, so it's a mystery why anyone thinks he's somehow going to bring peace to the Middle East.”
“This blunder seems more worrying given the situation of the White House’s intense focus on voter fraud that has only been about dead people not removing their names from voter rolls and simple official mistakes. The bar for identifying criminal intent isn't exactly high.”
But when it comes to whether Jared's misstated gender constitutes a voter fraud violation, the chances seem slim.
"There has to be an intent to give false information. If he (for some reason) knowingly registered as a woman – for what purpose, I could not guess – that might be described as voter fraud, though it would have negligible effect on the determination of his eligibility, and so wouldn't amount to much anyway," said Loyola Law School professor Justin Levitt.
