A Sikh gurudwara has been allegedly vandalised by unidentified people with graffiti in Germany's Cologne. The graffiti message on the gurudwara's main gate purportedly read "must go".

The consulate general of India in Frankfurt said the matter has been taken up with the German authorities, with the protection to the gurudwara having been promised.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh he was "shocked" by the vandalism, as he appealed to the Sikh community in the region to remain calm and not get provoked by such disruptive acts.

"Such brazen racist attacks are highly condemnable & German govt should ensure strict action against culprits," he wrote in a tweet.
