A woman from The Bahamas reportedly took in 97 stray dogs to protect them from Hurricane Dorian which battered the island nation.

Chella Phillips, from Nassau on the island of New Providence put up a Facebook post saying that she took the dogs into her house to weather the hurricane and soothed them by playing music and keeping the air conditioner on.

Phillips also requested financial aid for helping the animals and an online fundraiser set up by her has already raised over USD 1,00,000.

In a recent update, she confirmed that all 97 dogs made it safely through the hurricane so far.

Although Nassau experienced flooding and power outages, the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama were the worst affected by Hurricane Dorian.
