The death of Fidel Castro, the former Communist president of Cuba at the age of 90, has left the whole world in shock.

The leader of the Communist Revolution grabbed many headlines across the world during his half-a-century-long leadership of the country. He will be most vividly remembered for his strained relations with the USA and for playing an influential role during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Castro also enjoyed a close relationship with India – as is testified by his various meetings with the Indian leaders, including Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh.
