The cacophony of tweets from US President Donald Trump’s personal account went on mute when it was deactivated for 11 full minutes.

In an official statement, Twitter initially attributed the slipup to “human error”.

“The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again,” the company said.

Of course there was plenty of speculation in those brief 11 minutes as to what could really have happened. Was it a rogue employee? Did Trump do this himself?

But soon enough the cat was out of the bag when Twitter revealed that following an investigation it was learnt that the account was deactivated by a Twitter customer support employee on his/her last day.

It didn’t take long for Twitter users to heap praises on the employee.
