Presumptive Republican US Presidential nominee Donald Trump took to Twitter in response to the Orlando nightclub shooting – which left 50 dead – calling it ‘a really bad shooting’.

After the cursory acknowledgement, he apparently couldn’t resist the opportunity for an ‘I-told-you-so’, tweeting :

Public and media figures widely denounced his comments online.

Despite the criticism, the tweet saw supporters re-tweeting and liking the status in large numbers.

Trump has previously called for a ban on Muslim men and women from entering into the US. Using the attack to push the agenda further, the Republican tweeted:

In another tweet, he asked US President Obama to attribute the attacks to ‘radical islamic terrorism’ or resign, at a time when conflicting reports came up about the attack being an act of hate more than one influenced by any religious ideologies.
