A Boeing 737 commercial jet with 136 people aboard skid off the runway and landed into the St John’s river in Florida, US on Friday, 3 May, reported news agency Reuters.

Quoting a spokesperson for Naval Air Station Jacksonville, the agency reported that the flight was ferrying over 136 people from Cuba’s Guantanamo Bay and arrived in Florida around 9.40 pm.

Taking to Twitter, Jacksonville Mayor confirmed that all persons aboard the flight were “alive and accounted for.” He added that the flight had not submerged into the river and landed in shallow water.

Emergency personnel are currently on scene providing assistance with rescue operations, the report added.
