India on Tuesday, 12 May, strongly condemned the multiple "barbaric terrorist attacks in Afghanistan", including one on a maternity hospital in Kabul that left 14 people, including two newborn babies and their mothers, dead, PTI reported.

"India strongly condemns the barbaric terrorist attacks against innocent civilians, including women and children, at the Dasht-e-Barchi hospital maternity ward, funeral in Nangarhar province and the Army check post in Laghman province," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

Calling the attack targeting the hospital in Kabul a "crime against humanity", the MEA said there can be no justification for such acts of terrorism.

Several gunmen attacked a hospital in the Afghanistan capital early on Tuesday, leaving 14 dead and at least 15 others, including children, injured, BBC reported.

The incident comes the same day when at least 24 people were killed and 68 others injured after a suicide blast hit a funeral in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province.

“The funeral was underway for a former Afghan local police official in Kuz Kunar district when the blast went off at 11 in the morning,” a source told Xinhua news agency.

Among the killed was Abdullah Malakzai, a member of the provincial council, the source added.
