A video showing an image and the name of singer Zubeen Garg being displayed on Burj Khalifa is going viral on social media platforms as real visuals, following his sudden passing.

What did the viral post say?: An Instagram account named '@signonews' shared the clip with a caption that translated to, "Mourning the death of Zubeen Garg in Dubai. Tribute to such great artist."

What are the facts?: The viral video has been generated using the help of using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and does not show real visuals. This makes the claim false.

How did we find that out?: On conducting a search on Google, we did not find any credible news reports or any information available in the public domain that talked about Garg's image being displayed on the world's tallest structure.

  • Next, we went through the official Instagram handle of Burj Khalifa but did not find any such evidence.

  • The last post shared by the handle was on 8 September.

What did detection tools show?: Team WebQoof passed the video through a tool named 'DeepFake-O-Meter', where one of the detectors showed around 100% probability of the clip being an AI-generated one.
