A video of a brutal attack was shared on Facebook on Thursday, 9 August, with a caption that claimed to show a group of men in Gurgaon, Haryana, beating the driver of a car to death, after the victim allegedly hit a car with his car.

The caption also claims that the victim was talking on his mobile phone, and that the “mistake cost him his life”. Neither of these claims is true.

As per a report in The Tribune, the video captures an attack on a man in Faridabad on 24 July, where a group of young men from the state’s Newada village are seen beating the man, over an alleged “old enmity”.

The report states that members of the attacking group had been beaten four days prior to this attack.

The victim of the attack is NOT dead, and the video is not from an incident in August.

By the time the police arrived, the attackers had fled. The victim was hospitalised, police said, and added that a case of an attempt to murder, under Section 307 of the IPC had been registered against unidentified persons.
