Viral Video Falsely Claims ‘Old Man’ is Brazil U-17 Football Coach
The video actually features Séan Garnier, a French freestyle footballer.
CLAIM
A video showing an old guy with unbelievable football skills has gone viral on social media. The viral video has been doing the rounds with the claim that the man was Brazil’s under 17 coach, Amadeu Carlos.
The caption for this video reads, “Brazil's under 17 coach *Amadeu Carlos* is just 76 years old. This is called Brazilian football magic.”
This has been shared by various users on Twitter. The video can be seen below:
Facebook was flooded with posts about the same.
TRUE OR FALSE?
The video does not feature Brazil’s under 17 football coach. The claim is false. The ‘old man’ in the viral video is actually Séan Garnier, a renowned French freestyle footballer. He had dressed up as an old man for this video.
WHAT WE FOUND OUT
On searching for the Brazilian under 17 football coach Amadeu Carlos, we found that he looks nothing like the old man featuring in the video.
After this, we took a screen-grab of the the video being circulated and conducted a reverse image search. We were eventually led to a video shared by Séan Garnier, a French freestyle footballer, who had uploaded the video to his YouTube channel.
After the old man is shown stumping the guys who had earlier ridiculed him, the make-up is revealed. This clearly shows how Séan Garnier had a radical transformation to look like the old man from the video.
Thus, the claim doing the rounds is completely false.
