An old video from Syria is going viral on social media to claim that it shows USA attacking Iran's nuclear facilities recently.

A video showing a blast is going viral to claim that it shows the USA's strikes on Iran's nuclear sites amid the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict.

What's the truth?: This video is old and shows Israel bombing Syria's port city of Tartous.

How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the viral video on Google which led us to an old post of X (formerly Twitter).

  • This post was shared on 16 December 2024 and carried the same viral clip.

  • It stated that the video shows, "Israeli bombing of Syria's port city of Tartous".

  • It further adds that loud explosions were heard in the Syrian port city of Tartus after a number of attacks by Israel.

  • We performed a relevant keyword search on Google which also led us to a report shared by NBC News on 16 December 2024.

  • It carried a screenshot from the viral video and stated that a massive explosion was reported as Israeli struck the Syrian port city of Tartus.
