CLAIM

A video is being circulated on Facebook which shows armed police holding a few men at gunpoint. The text accompanying the video claims that 25 RSS men were caught making bombs in the hostel of Maharashtra University and 58 rooms of the hostel have been sealed. It further goes on to add that the “media is silent because they are Sanatan terrorist”.

The aforementioned video has garnered over 2,000 shares.

TRUE OR FALSE

While the video is absolutely true, the claim with which it is being shared along with it is false. The Quint got in touch with the Amravati police and they confirmed to us that the video was shot during a mock drill and it doesn’t show the police arresting RSS men.

A different version of the same video had gone viral earlier, which claimed that the police arrested these terrorists from Ambadevi Temple. The Quint had earlier debunked that viral story too.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT

We had found out that the video was actually of a mock drill and not a real arrest. Speaking to The Quint, Amravati police confirmed that the video is true and they were not terrorists.

Police Sub Inspector Mundhe said, “The video shows a mock drill by the Amravati city police near Ambadevi temple.”

However he couldn’t remember the date when the drill was held, but added that it could be last Monday (22 July).
