Ravi Shastri’s Image with Liquor Bottle Under His Chair Is Morphed
In the original image tweeted by BCCI, no liquor bottle can be seen under Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri’s chair.
CLAIM
A viral image on social media claims that a liquor bottle was seen under Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri’s chair. The claim along with one of the posts shared on Facebook reads: ‘Look at the jack Daniel bottle below the chair of Ravi Shastri. What do you say? Such behaviour is not expected from Ravi Shastri. He should be made to explain what was the hurry to drink the whiskey in the field itself that he couldn’t wait to go to his room.’
Several social media users have shared the image with a similar narrative.
TRUE OR FALSE?
The claim with which the image is being shared is false. The viral image has been morphed. In the original image tweeted by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), no liquor bottle can be seen under Ravi Shastri’s chair.
WHAT WE FOUND OUT
We did a reverse image search on Google which led us to a tweet that was posted on 6 July.
The tweet was posted by a fan club of Hardik Pandya. The image in the tweet is same as the viral image but does not have a liquor bottle under Ravi Shastri’s chair.
Consequently, we tracked tweets on the official Twitter handle of BCCI and found that the original image was tweeted on 6 July. No liquor bottle can be seen under Ravi Shastri’s chair. Clearly, the viral image has been morphed.
