A video of a reporter conducting an interview of a man in a waterlogged road, which was later revealed to be a pool, is going viral on social media platforms as a real incident.

What's the claim?: Those sharing the clip have uploaded it with a caption that said, "RJD MLA in flood affected Bihar nearly played with his life to save flood affected..."

An archive of the post can be found here.

The clip is being shared on other social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram. (More archives of similar claims can be viewed here, here, and here.)

What are the facts?: The video was actually scripted and did not show a real incident. It was originally shared by an Instagram page named 'dalalcomedians' that regularly posts such scripted content.

How did we find that out?: On conducting a Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip, we found similar visuals uploaded on an Instagram handle 'dalalcomedians_fanpage'.

  • The video was uploaded on 31 July with a caption that said, "exclusive interview".

  • We noticed that the audio was credited to another page named 'dalalcomedians'.

  • Next, we looked for the Instagram handle and found the original clip posted on 29 July. Its caption said, "Exclusive interview".

About the Instagram page: We went through the page and found that the user identified themselves as a 'comedian' and a 'video creator'.

  • Team WebQoof found several other videos created by the same account, where one can spot the same people. You can view the clips here, here, and here.

The user identified themselves as a video creator.

Conclusion: It is evident that a scripted video that shows an interview is being incorrectly shared as a real incident.
