Ranu Mondal Demands Land for Church in Ayodhya? No, It’s a Satire
Writer Madhu Kishwar too fell for the satirical piece which appeared on a website called Fauxy.
In an unanimous judgment delivered on the Ayodhya title dispute on Saturday, 9 November, the court ruled that Hindus will get the disputed land in Ayodhya, subject to conditions. The inner and outer courtyards will be handed over to a Centre-led trust, and a suitable plot of land measuring five acres shall be given to the Sunni Waqf Board.
CLAIM
On Tuesday, writer Madhu Purnima Kishwar, who has over two million followers on Twitter, shared a tweet that had the image of internet sensation Ranu Mondal, claiming that Mondal has demanded a separate land to establish a church in Ayodhya.
The claim reads: “ रानू मंडल ने अयोध्या मे चर्च के लिए जगह मांगी, आपको नहीं लगता ये स्टेशन पर ही ठीक थी? ये तो सिर पर बैठ गई” (Translated: Ranu Mondal has demanded a land for church in Ayodhya, don’t you think she was better off at the station? She is sitting on our head.)

Several social media users shared the same claim on Twitter and Facebook.
WHAT’S THE TRUTH?
We ran a Google keyword search using ‘रानू मंडल ने #अयोध्या मे चर्च के लिए जगह मांगी’ and found an article published by a website called ‘Fauxy’ on 11 October, with the headline ‘Ranu Mandal Demands Land for Church Too in the Disputed Ayodhya Land.’
At the end of the website, we found a disclaimer that mentioned that it’s a satirical website and the content of the website is a “work of fiction.”
The disclaimed reads: “The Fauxy is a Satire Web Portal. The content of this website is a work of fiction. Readers are advised not to confuse the articles of The Fauxy as genuine and true.”
Hence, an article published by a satirical website was passed off to claim that Ranu Mondal had demanded land for a church in Ayodhya.
