A video of Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha distributing what appears to be milk packets is being shared on social media platforms with users linking it to the recent floods in Punjab.
What did the viral post say?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium handle shared the clip with a caption saying, "Rajya Sabha MP from Panjab @raghav_chadha finally reached Panjab and all he shared was a video of distributing 500ml lassi packets. In Rajya Sabha he didn’t talk about floods but free chatGPT access."
What is the truth?: The video dates back to July 2023 and is not linked to the recent floods in Punjab.
Additionally, Chadha had announced on his official X handle that he has allocated Rs 3.25 crore from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development Division (MPLAD) funds for flood-affected areas in the state.
What about the viral clip?: On conducting a keyword search with the words in Punjabi "ਰਾਘਵ ਚੱਢਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਹੜ੍ਹ" (Translation: Raghav Chadha Punjab floods), we found the same visuals available on YouTube.
It was posted on 11 July 2023 on the official channel of Jagbani.
The video's caption when translated to English said, "Raghav Chadha became a support for people trapped in floods, delivered food to people in pouring rain."
The Rajya Sabha MP, on his Facebook handle, had shared similar visuals showing him distributing milk and biscuit packets to people.
The images were posted on 10 July 2023 with a caption that said, "Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Punjab, who are braving devastating floods that have engulfed several districts. The Punjab government led by @BhagwantMann1 is working tirelessly to ensure normalcy is restored, and all possible assistance is offered."
About Chadha visiting flood-affected areas: A report published in Indian Express said that Chadha had visited the Gurdaspur and Dinanagar areas and was taking a stock of the situation.
He had reviewed the situation on the ground in the flood-affected areas.
In both the areas, Chadha distributed medical and ration kits and said that repair and rehabilitation work will be taken up.
The report was published on 30 August.

Chadha's announcement on X: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader announced on his X handle that he will be allocated Rs 3.25 crore from his MPLAD funds.
Out of this Rs 2.75 crore will be allotted for strengthening flood protection embankments so that our villages remain safe from floods in future and Rs 50 lakh for relief & rehabilitation.
Conclusion: It is evident that the video is old and is being falsely linked to the recent floods in Punjab.
