A video of several people chasing and hitting police personnel with sticks is being shared on social media with a claim that it shows a recent incident from Bihar's Jamui.
What's the claim?: An Instagram user shared the clip with a caption saying, "In Jamui village of Bihar, some police officers went and said to vote for BJP. The rest is history."
Is the claim true?: No. While the video is indeed from Bihar's Jamui, it reportedly shows villagers attacking police personnel when the latter had gone to Kaddhua Tari to take action against illegal liquor production.
How did we find that out?: Using the help of Google Lens, we conducted a round of reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral video. This directed us to a news report published by Bhaskar English.
It said that people residing in Kaddhua Tari village attacked several police personnel after they had gone there to act against alleged liquor production.
The villagers, who were busy with their Karma festival rituals, accused the police of misbehaving with women. Several officers were injured in the clash.
The report mentioned that as per a resident named Champa Devi, the community was observing the Karma festival where liquor is offered to the deity. She claimed that the police entered houses despite requests to wait.
It further said police had received information about illicit liquor being made in the village. The incident left six policemen injured and led to the arrest of at least 13 people.
The report was published four days ago.

Other sources: NDTV, too, shared a video report on the incident on their official YouTube channel on 6 September. It was titled, "Bihar News | Police Team Beaten Up With Sticks By Villagers In Bihar's Jamui."
Conclusion: It is evident that the claim of the police personnel being beaten for asking votes for the BJP in Jamui is false.
