At the time of writing this report, this post on X gained over two lakh views. Archives of similar claims can be accessed here, here, and here.

What are the facts?: The claim lacks proper context. The visuals date back to July 2025 and show PM Modi meeting the Brazilian President at the 2025 BRICS summit held in Brazil.

Hints in the viral video: We noticed that the background carried the letters "BRICS" and the viral clip carried a watermark that said '@Lulaoficial'.

  • This made it clear that the video was old and not related to the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

The video carried a watermark that said '@Lulaoficial'.

Finding the original video: On searching for the username on Google, we came across the official Instagram handle of Brazilian President Lula.

  • The visuals were shared on 6 July with a caption when translated to English said, "You have, in my person,@narendramodi, a true friend. I have a relationship of great respect, admiration and friendship for you and India."

Conclusion: It is evident that the viral claim lacks proper context about the video being from the 2025 BRICS summit.
