Article 370: No, India Has Not Blocked Pakistani News Websites
The Quint found out that prominent Pakistani news websites are accessible in India.
CLAIM
A post on Twitter on Saturday, 3 August, made by a Pakistan-based journalist claimed that Pakistani websites including news websites Dawn and The Express Tribune. The post reads:
“Word on latest Kashmir fiasco: Modi seems to want to send Trump a message and also get revenge for embarrassment of Abhinandan earlier this year.
Pakistani websites (incl dawn, tribune) inaccessible in India. Indian media reporting 5-7 terrorists/SSG commandos have been killed.”
The tweet has been shared by several users.

TRUE OR FALSE
The claim made in the post appears to be false. The Indian government hasn’t blocked Pakistani news websites, specifically Dawn and Express Tribune.
PAKISTANI NEWS WEBSITES ACCESSIBLE
The Quint found out that prominent Pakistani news websites including Dawn and Express Tribune are, in fact, accessible in India.
The post was put up on Saturday night, 3 August, and has been shared several times in the next two days. We attempted to, and were able to, access the websites on Monday morning, 5 August.
However, internet services have been suspended in the Kashmir valley amid crisis in Jammu and Kashmir.
WHAT IS THE SITUATION IN KASHMIR?
Amid the ongoing turmoil and unprecedented clampdown in Kashmir on Sunday night which included the house arrest of prominent Kashmiri leaders including Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, Home Minister Amit Shah proposed revocation of Article 370, which offers special status to Jammu and Kashmir, in the Parliament.
He has further proposed bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir following which Ladakh will be one union territory without legislature while J&K will be a unnion territory with an Assembly.
