At the time of writing this report, the post had gained over 3.8 lakh views on the platform. (You can view an archive of a similar claim here.)

What are the facts?: The video dates back to August 2020 and reportedly shows an explosion in Lebanon's Beirut. This makes the claim false.

What led us to the truth?: On conducting a simple reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip, we found the same visuals published on an X handle called '@pashaverse'.

  • The video was shared on 5 August 2020 with a caption that said, "Close view of the #BeirutExplosion".

News reports: A news report published in 9News said that the Beirut explosion was caused by the ignition of a large stockpile of explosive material. These materials were said to be stored at the port for years.

  • The report, too, carried the same visuals of the explosion as well.

  • 10 Tampa Bay had shared a video report about the incident on their official YouTube channel.

  • It was posted on 8 August 2020 and was titled, "New footage captures shocking moment explosion rips through Beirut."

Conclusion: While we could not independently verify the location of the clip, it is clear that the video is old and unrelated.
