Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false.

  • This image dates back to 2021, when Gandhi-Vadra performed prayers on the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya at Sangam.

What we found: We ran a Google reverse image search on the image and came across a Congress post which featured the same image as the viral photo on X from 11 February 2021.

  • Its caption read, "Congress General Secretary Mrs Priyanka Gandhi ji took a bath in the Ganga on the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya at the Sangam bank and offered holy water to the Sun and prayed for the prosperity and progress of the country." (sic.)

  • We, also found, several news reports which highlighted her visit to Sangam in 2021. According to Indian Express, the Congress leader reached Sangam to take a holy dip and participate in the prayers.

  • She was in Sangam with her daughter and Congress Member of Legislative Assembly, Aradhana Misra.

  • The Hindustan Times also uploaded visuals which show Priyanka-Gandhi and others at Sangam in 2021.

  • We looked for reports to know whether she had attended the ongoing Kumbh; however, we did not find any reports or other proof.
