CLAIM

An image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi being applauded by leaders from across the world as he enters the purported G-7 hall and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan crouching amidst them has been widely circulated on social media.

“When Modiji enter in to the G-7 conferences hall everybody in the hall has given the standing welcome to him. One guy among them hides and could not either able to sit or stand. See his condition and find who..?” the post read.

The Quint also received several queries regarding the image on its WhatsApp number.

WHAT IS THE TRUTH?

The image is from the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2018, where Modi interacted with top global CEOs at the International Business Council event. The man seen crouching in the image is not Imran Khan.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT

With a simple Google reverse image search, we came across multiple reports on WEF 2018 carrying the original image.

On juxtaposing the original image with the viral post, we found that the image was doctored by replacing the face of an unknown man with that of Imran Khan.

To sum up, the viral image is not from the G-7 summit, it is from WEF 2018 in Davos. The original picture also does not have Imran Khan crouching.
