A purported newspaper clipping is going viral online to claim that NASA has selected an Indian Ayurvedic doctor for exploring the role of 'traditional medicine in space travel'.
How did we find out the truth?: We noticed several spelling errors and irrelevant names in the clipping, for example, the byline read 'The Yonk Times' which looks like a satirical copy of The New York Times.
This clipping is fake.
(Altered by The Quint)
We performed a relevant keyword search but did not find any credible reports supporting this claim.
Nor did NASA share anything about this on their official website or social media accounts.
We then checked PIB's X (formerly Twitter) account and they had also dismissed the viral claim.
It states, "This newspaper clipping is #fake. ️The image being circulated is morphed. ️The New York Times has NEVER carried any such news story! (sic)"
Conclusion: A fake newspaper clipping is going viral online to claim that NASA has selected Indian Ayurvedic doctor for space medicine research.
