No, he didn’t. The photos and videos are from a visit the North East Delhi MP made to Nizamuddin Dargah last year.

CLAIM

A video, along with a few pictures, shows Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari visiting a dargah. It is doing the rounds on the internet with a claim that he made the visit after the Haryana results, which threw up a hung Assembly on 24 October 2019.

BJP wasn’t able to secure a majority, but the saffron party allied with Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) to form the government.

The text accompanying the post reads, “भक्तो के छोटे पापा कहां घूम रहें हैं
हरियाणा में बीजेपी की खस्ता हालत देख मस्जिद का रुख करते मनोज तिवारी
| (Manoj Tiwari prayed at a mosque given the poor performance of the BJP in Haryana.”)

The post is being shared by numerous users on Facebook.

TRUE OR FALSE?

The pictures and video haven’t been manipulated in any way, but the claim that Tiwari visited the dargah after Haryana Assembly elections is false. The photos and videos are from a visit that the North East Delhi MP had made to Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah in June 2018.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT

Using keywords ‘मनोज तिवारी दरगाह’ on Twitter, we came across posts dated 21 June 2018 which proved that the video and the pictures were old.

The post dates back to June 2018.

We then conducted a reverse image search on one of the pictures on Google, which led us to Tiwari’s official Twitter page. The same pictures had been uploaded there on 14 June.

The Twitter page also had a link to his Facebook page, where the video from Tiwari’s visit to the dargah, now viral, can be seen.

This old video of Tiwari visiting the dargah has been used to assert that a recent visit was made on the heels of BJP’s poor show in the elections.
