CLAIM

A viral video, shared by several pro-BJP supporters on social media shows man slamming the Congress party for its dynastic politics, while also praising Narendra Modi for taking on the mother-son duo.

The man in the video speaks as though he is part of the Congress party, referring to a "core committee meeting", and calling the Congress party "his party."

The video has been shared by several persons on Twitter, including filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who claimed that the man in the video was the Opposition's candidate from Varanasi – Ajai Rai. Pandit’s tweet is now deleted.

The video has also been shared widely on Facebook with the claim that the man was Ajai Rai.

TRUE OR FALSE?

The man in the video is not Ajai Rai, but Anil Bhoolchandani, a businessman from Bhopal.

An investigation by fake news debunking website Alt News showed that the video was originally posted by Bhoolchandani on 8 February.

Bhoolchandani had captioned the video "मेरे दुवारा नाटकीय रूपांतरण" – which translates to "A staged performance by me", indicating that the video was a creative expression, and holds no truth.

Further, a side-by-side analysis of Rai and Bhoolchandani's pictures shows a clear difference in their facial features.

VIDEO ALSO EARLIER VIRAL

The video was also earlier widely shared as Delhi DPCC leader airing the truth about the Congress party.

It has also been viral as just a generic Congress leader expressing his displeasure with the party.

However, with Rai’s candidature announced from Varanasi, and the facial similarities between the two persons matching to some extent, the video appears to have found a new lease of life ahead of the elections.
