A video of a waterspout is being shared on social media platforms, with users claiming it to show recent visuals of storm at the Kulasai Beach in Tamil Nadu.
What are the facts?: The video is old and is unrelated to Tamil Nadu or India. It actually dates back to October 2022 and shows visuals of a waterspout spotted at Ayia Napa Beach in Cyprus.
How did we find that out?: We performed a Google Lens on the keyframes of the viral video and found similar visuals uploaded on video sharing platform Dailymotion.
It was uploaded on 13 August. The clip's description described it as a waterspout.
Taking this forward, we conducted a keyword search on YouTube and found the same clip uploaded on the official channel of Fox Weather.
The video was posted on 18 October 2022, and it was titled "Massive Waterspout Swirls Onto Cyprus Beach."
Other sources: The Weather Channel, too, shared the same clip on their website identifying the location as Cyprus. It was posted on 8 November 2022 and its description said, "A waterspout came ashore at Ayia Napa Beach in Cyprus."

Tamil Nadu fact-check wing clarifies: The official X handle of Tamil Nadu government's fact-checking wing said that the video is old and is being falsely shared as visuals of a storm at Kulasai Beach.
Conclusion: It is clear that the video is old and unrelated to either India or Tamil Nadu.
