A clip of Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya speaking during a podcast is being shared on social media.
What does he say?: In the clip, Pandya purportedly discusses his teammate Yuzvendra Chahal's recent divorce with choreographer Dhanashree Verma and how he got through a tough time.

Is it true?: No, the audio was altered using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
How did we find out the truth?: We noticed that Pandya was wearing a jersey with the logo of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Gujarat Titans.
Taking a cue from this, we looked for the video using his name and the team's name as keywords.
The search led us to an identical-looking video on Gujarat Titans' official YouTube channel.
It was published on 20 April 2023, long before Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma split.
Throughout the video, Pandya, with podcast host Gaurav Kapoor, spoke about playing for Gujarat Titans and the Indian natioanl team, his family, and his experience as a cricketer.
He did not mention Yuzvendra Chahal's divorce at any point.
Is it AI?: We ran the video through AI-generated content detection tools to check whether the audio had been synthetically created.
Hive Moderation's tool, at several points in the viral video, showed high certainty that the video contained AI-generated content.
Overall, it said that there was a 99.7 percent likelihood of the audio being made using AI tools.

Contrails.ai's tool, too, gave the video an extremely low score, showing high confidence that the audio was AI generated, calling it 'fake'.
The note in their report stated, "Audio Clone of Hardik Pandya is used to create the Fake Audio (sic)."
Their report detected audio manipulation.
