This post had gained over two lakh views on X, when this report was being written. Archives of similar claims can be accessed here, here, and here.

What are the facts?: We could trace the entire viral video back to at least March 2023 and reportedly shows Taliban discovering weapons and money in Afghanistan.

How did we find that out?: On conducting a simple reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip, we found the same visuals shared on an X handle named 'Graham Allen'.

  • It was published on 26 March 2023 and its caption said, "BIDEN LEFT ALL OF THIS TO THE TALIBAN."

  • This pointed towards the possibility of the video being captured in Afghanistan.

Older versions: We found an older version shared on X that showed similar visuals of arms being laid on the ground.

  • It was shared on 16 August 2021 and its caption said, "tons of #US weapons seized by #Taliban."

  • A comparison between the first few keyframes of the viral clip and visuals available in the 2021 video showed that both of them were from the same incident.

  • We could not find older versions of other footages seen in the viral clip.

A comparison clearly shows several similarities.

Conclusion: While we could not independently verify the context or location of the video, it is clear that the viral clip is old.
