A video of a crowd taking out a procession on the streets is going viral on social media platforms with a claim that it shows GenZ recently chanting slogans like "UP Police, use your batons, we are with you" in Uttar Pradesh.

Who shared it?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium user named 'MeghUpdates', who has been previously called out for spreading disinformation, shared the video with a caption saying, "Mahadev: GenZ hits the streets with chants — “UP Police tum lath bajao, hum tumhare saath hain.” “Yogi Ji aage badho, hum tumhare saath hain"."

An archive of the post can be found here.

The above post had gained over three lakh views on the platform. (Archives of similar such claims could be found here, here, and here.)

What's the truth?: The visuals are actually from Rajasthan's Jaipur, where supporters of Naresh Meena had taken out a procession. The video was further edited to add the audio of the slogans.

  • Both these factors combinedly show that the viral claim is false.

How did we find that out?: We conducted a simple Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral video and found the same visuals uploaded on an X handle called 'Abhay Singh Meena'.

  • It was uploaded on 26 September.

  • The post's caption suggested, " In Jaipur, from Triveni Nagar to Mahesh Nagar Phatak, the common people, under the leadership of Naresh Meena Bhai's son Anirudh, took out a huge torchlight procession for the Jhalawar victims and demanded justice from the Rajasthan government."

News report: A report published by NDTV Rajasthan said that Naresh Meena's supporters carried out a torch procession on the streets of Jaipur.

  • It further said that Meena was on a hunger strike for the last 14 days, where he demanded justice for the families of the children who died in the Piplodi school accident in Jhalawar.

The report was published on 25 September 2025.

How did we geolocate the place?: We noticed the name of one of the buildings was "Kamla Tower" and an 'Unacademy Centre' could also be seen in the background.

The viral video had the names of a few stores in the background.

  • Taking this further, we searched "Kamla Tower", "Unacademy Centre" and "Jaipur" on Google Maps.

  • Using the 'street view' option, we came across a location that seemed similar to the background seen in the viral video.

Comparing visuals: Team WebQoof compared the keyframes from the viral video to the visuals available on Google Maps. We concluded that the clip was indeed recorded in Jaipur.

A comparison clearly shows the similarities.

UP police debunks the claim: The official X handle of UP Police, too, clarified that the video was from Jaipur and dated back to 25 September. The post further said that the video carried a fake voiceover.

Conclusion: It is evident that the video is edited to add a fake audio and is also unrelated to Uttar Pradesh.
