An image of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan in a hospital bed is being circulated across various social media platforms.

Claim: Users posting this image claimed that this photo was taken at Cantonment General Hospital, Rawalpindi following the recent jailing of members of Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Pakistan.

• Users also claim that he has been sexually assaulted by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officials in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, where Khan is being held.

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false as the image is old and unrelated to the recent detainment of politicians in Pakistan.

What we found?: We ran a Google reverse image search and found a news report by NDTV Sports with the same image published in 2013 which predates the recent political turmoil in Pakistan.

• According to a news report by BBC, Khan got injured during an election rally in Lahore and suffered spinal injuries when he fell down from a make-shift lift that was taking him to a stage.

The photo is 12 years old.

We also ran keyword searches but did not find any credible source claiming this photo to be recent or connected to Khan's incarceration.

What is happening in Pakistan?: The Pakistan government has incarcerated 108 PTI party 108 members over their involvement in protests against the military in 2023.

• PTI members running as independent candidates won the most seats during National Assembly elections in 2024. They were blocked from forming government.
