As hundreds of thousands of protesters demanded gun control across the US on 24 March, a fake news story was doing the rounds on the internet with the intention to malign the image of Emma Gonzalez, one the students spearheading the movement.

Gonzalez, one of the survivors of Florida school shooting incident that left 17 people dead on 14 February, became the latest target of fake news, with doctored images showing her ripping apart the US Constitution.

The doctored image and video is actually taken from a photoshoot done by Teen Vogue for its March cover story on the young activists leading the "March For Our Lives" movement.

In the actual/real image, Gonzalez is seen tearing apart a shooting target poster, and NOT the US Constitution.

According to The Telegraph UK, the fake image first cropped up on the anonymous imageboard website 4chan, from where it spread to Twitter.

Needless to say, the fake image has found considerable traction on social media.

However, many others have also pointed out that it is photoshopped.

Gonzalez has been one of the most outspoken young critics of gun violence since one of the deadliest mass shooting incidents in America.

At the "March for Our Lives" rally in Washington on 24 March, the 18-year-old stood silent in front of a massive crowd for 6 minutes and 20 seconds, the amount of time she said it took the shooter to kill 17 people and wound many others at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
