A video showing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi being welcomed in Mauritius with a music group allegedly singing a satirical song on inflation and rising prices ‘Mahangai Dayan Khaaye Jaat Hai' is being shared on social media platforms.
What we found: We looked for reports to see if this incident took place in Mauritius when PM Modi arrived, however, we did not find any evidence to support this.
However, several news reports and official social media handles covering the prime minister noted that he was greeted with a traditional Bihari dance of ‘Geet Gawai’ during his trip to Mauritius.
PM Modi shared the video of this on his official X handle on 11 March.
The frame seen in the screenshot below matched perfectly with the viral video.
It was shared on the YouTube channels of PMO India and MyGov India, as well.
In none of these videos, shared on the official handles, did the song match with the one in the viral video. This indicated that the video could be edited.
We, then, noticed the logo on the viral video which said 'Netaflix.'
Here is a close-up of the logo.

We searched for this on social media platforms and found its account on X which noted that it was a page for "Indian political spoofs."
The page was listed as a 'parody account.'
It was listed as a 'parody account.'
We manually went through the page and found the viral video uploaded with the caption, "Inflation is also a threat in Mauritius." (sic.)
Team WebQoof also noticed that a username commented whether the instance was true and Netaflix replied by saying that the clip was "edited."
Conclusion: The viral video has been edited to falsely claim that the song on inflation was sung during PM Modi's welcome in Mauritius.
